I’ve been thinking this for years. Tired of just remakes/reboots with female leads rather than new and original ideas. Glad to hear she feels the same!

Great to see young actresses being honest, realistic and respectful. After the Blake Lively interviews and the Snow White live action I was starting to lose all hope.

We like original, well-developed, thought out female leads. Hunger Games, Kill Bill, Alien anyone? To name a few

She pulled a reverse Rachel Zegler which means her career is going to THRIVE

Jenna Ortega has a lot of integrity. She’s awesome. I remember her on Disney channel.

I’m bringing another diversity class into the convo (sorry folks) but I recently heard rumours on another channel that Disney are planning to make a live action Rapunzel with an Indian playing her. As an Indian lady myself, I’m so pissed 😂 if Disney wants to make an Indian the lead then go ahead, but why don’t you adapt a story from Indian culture and myths, why brownwash things?

I agree, as a kid growing up in the 90's, one of my all favourite tv shows was Xena, the warrior princess. It was authentic, had no agenda, no wokeness and no feminism. The rubbish we are fed today doesn't do women any justice whatsoever.

This was my mothers exact argument.
It's like, why turn white characters black? It just seems like more of a racist joke and a, "oh, shut up black people your being represented" than creating their own image and their own stories.

I find it silly when they try to make women tough the way men are. It comes across as very strange. A woman physically intimidating a man almost always comes across as unbelievable. Let alone dropkicking him across the room.

Let women be powerful the way women are, not the way men are. Look at Belle from Beauty and the Beast. She wasn't masculine. But she wasn't weak either.

Ellen Ripley, The Bride, Lara Croft, Princess Leia, Wonder Woman, Sarah Connor, there's literally an abundance of great female characters. Just gotta look for them. And more good ones can be created from originality

The thing is, when they do strong women characters today, they write them as men, not using the power that is innately women's power.

I'd be willing to see a female spy as long as it is an ORIGINAL new character! There were 2 movies for Enola Holmes. I was FINE with them!! It would make complete sense that Sherlock's younger sister would be a detective like her older brother. That was an original idea that didn't affect the beloved lore of Sherlock Holmes.

And disney when they have an opportunity with snow white for diversity don’t employ 7 little people!

I love diversity, but I'm tired of ginger characters being replaced (like wally west and iris west in the flash series, annie and starfire) I love the actors, but they aren't in the right roles.

As a 5’3 brown woman I humbly accept the role as Mr. Bean in Netflix new hit show “Mr. Bean: Femme Fatale”☺️

I really like the Wednesday show. They took an established female character and focused on her. They didn't try to make an already established male character and turn it female.

That's a great point, nobody remembers Black Ariel but everyone remembers Lt. Ripley.

I 100% agree. Original female leads. Not hijacked spinoffs.
