Peggy Seeger sings the British folk song 'The Lowlands Of Holland' (Roud 484) from her 1960s Prestige album 'The Best Of Peggy Seeger'. In the song, likely from the 17th century, a young wife tells of the death of her navy husband in the English wars with Holland. The song has also been sung by the Dubliners, Steeleye Span, and the Chieftains. In her album liner notes, Seeger says this version of the song came from Maine and that the battlefields in folksongs were often in the lowlands of Holland or Germany.
