If the green transition is ever going to work, it needs to happen everywhere. So, don't get your drawers in a bunch when you see green energy funds from the Inflation Reduction Act being invested in Red States.

Easily the only geopolitics channel with live wild animals.

That is not a wild goat. Peter has a pet. We all know it. It is how he manages to hike and camp so much - the goat carries his gear for him.

The goat was a clever addition. I completly lost track of what Peter was talking about and had to replay the video. Thus, an added view for the algorithm. Clever.

0:46 I demand to make Billy the billy goat a recurring feature of Peter’s vids. He’s so precious!

North Carolina was a manufacturing hub back in the 1950s, etc. Those companies all left but they left behind a robust power grid just waiting to be used again. It's been a perfect match for anything green tech.

Your lung capacity has got to be excellent to have a conversation at 14, 000 feet. I remember running at 5, 000 feet when I was at Fort Huachuca, AZ.
Here in Fairfield, CA the windmills for electricity were always here because of the funnel shaped delta made wind power make economic sense. After Obama, we tripled the number of windmills and solar panels started popping up everywhere, which makes sense for us in the summer time only. We are at the 38th parallel here.
Outstanding videos Peter! Always informative.

They want to build a solar farm near my town here in Arizona. They specified that it will take unreal amounts of water to keep the panels clean and to build. Practically emptying our water table that is used for the farms and the people living here. And the electricity will be going to the nearest big city that is two hours away. I'm all for the transition, but not at the expense of our small town and the people who depend on their wells for water. And it won't even create sustainable jobs. After the initial build, it'll only need like 8 people to run. So, low job yield and emptying our water table. Not well thought out.

I've been hiking in UT and CA for decades wanting to see one of those guys. Never once seen one, even at a distance. You get them to do cameos. BTW, California has hundreds of millions of dollars for projects that are stalled waiting for various approvals. Government officials in CA don't understand that their constant fussing and delay kills projects. Here in reddest of red Utah, decisions are made quickly. I work with developers in UT and CA constanty. The cost of California (and other blue states) isn't the biggest problem. Delay is the number one issue I hear about from people looking to do any sort of large project.

I see some ranches in central Texas where they have utility grade wind turbines, rooftop solar, oil pumpjacks and grazing cattle all on the same plot. They get all kinds of checks out there.

Nuclear subsidies and red tape reform is something we need to talk about.

I do believe this is the first Peter video that I've been more distracted by his backgrounds then the wind. LOL

Why don't they site solar over where it's SHADE can be used? Parking lots, buildings, warehouses that need air-conditioning?
