Boss ODB-3 Bass Overdrive | Reverb Demo Video

I absolutely love using this pedal together with my Sansamp Bass Driver DI. I put the ODB 3 in the closet for a couple of years because it sounds like crap on it's own, and I never managed to work out a usable sound for it. This week I decided to go through my old pedals again, and using this together with my Sansamp was the best idea ever.

I play in a 60'ies rock cover band that doesn't really require any distortion, but being a heavy metal bassist at heart, I kinda wanted to have to option to kick in some distortion without having to change the settings on my Sansamp all the time. A cleaner sound in my band, and than a more distorted sound in my bedroom haha! The ODB-3 is just perfect for that gritty tone with one push of a button. My settings are pretty easy:
Level at 2 o' clock
Treble a tiny but under 12 o' clock
Bass at about 1-2 o' clock
Balance and Gain at around 4 o' clock, dialed in just a little bit.

That way I keep the amazing tone of my Sansamp, and still have that bit of grittyness without it being too obvious. And seeing as the ODB-3 is not at all a subtle pedal, puting Gain and Balance so low makes for my perfect metal tone :)

The pedal sounds good, but the only thing I really dislike is how the fuzz effect takes over most notes being played, making them sound flat or just simply way to "dead". Other than that, it sounds okay!
