Shmups You Need To Play - Beamrider (Commodore 64)

I play the utterly sublime Beamrider from Activision Software.

I used to love this on the Spectrum. I could even get my mum to give this one a go.

Some of the noises remind me of the kind of sounds you'd get on the bridge of the enterprise in the old Statrek series and films.

When I think of shmups I think of smushed puppies for some reason. I guess I'm just weird.
The games sound is cool. That beeping sound that plays on the green and white screen sounds like something from Alien.

Had this one on Intellivision before I got muh C64. The SID rly crushes the intellivision sound, but that version was quite playable.

Soft Aid on the C64 had a few decent shoot em ups - Beamrider, Flak and Falcon Patrol.

I quite enjoyed Fred and Gumshoe as well.

The authors of Star Trader, Kokotoni Wilf and China Miner should still be in jail.
