What is a Taylor Series and why do I care? Taylor series are very useful and not very hard to use. They are a convenient way to approximate functions and are used in many different kinds of number crunching like calculating values for Pi and e.

@andyspear1 Taylor series get used a lot in approximations. You'll often see someone use a one term or two term Taylor or MacLaurin series explansion for an approximate solution to a problem.

As he said: the way your calculater calculates special functions, like the sine or cosine function.

sin x = x - x^3 / 3! + x^5 / 5! - x^7 / 7! + ...
.
since a number in your computer also has a limited amount of digits, you can cap the series on a high power

You can find the 2 that you showed earlier, because it's a geometric progression. n goes to infinity and then you find it !
