Yup, being a astrophysics major, I study it. It's called Dark Matter (which we aren't able to perceive) and it constitutes Dark Energy.
Dark Matter makes 95% of the universe.
Visible Matter makes just 5% (all celestial objects we see)

The more scary or interesting fact is that the 5% of the universe, we are able to see is from the observable universe (the universe we are able to see till now), and that there's more universe beyond the observable universe.
Some physicists says that the observable universe is just an blink of an eye, an average human eye blink is about only 0.25 seconds.
You can clearly, how little we know and how much is there out there.

As a physics major, he summed it up perfectly. Dark matter and dark energy makeup 95 percent of the known universe. Again, we don’t know what exactly the universe is, its shape, its contents, why it is ? We also don’t really know what time is. I think the main question is : why is everything?

Yes sir may be even less 5% is visible with our naked eyes. But yes using certain technologies, NASA has been able to capture images of gaseous clouds in space, which usually emit radiations in the range of Infrared heat waves.
