If you find it hard to align wheels to your bolt holes i dont think you should be doing any maintenance/modifications at all

I’m a tech at a ford dealer, we have a couple VWs that come in and use lug bolts. I should buy 1 conversion of each size to hold the wheel on while I put the lug bolts in, take the conversion stud out and put in the final lug bolt.

Virtually all European manufacturers employ bolts. There is nothing wrong with them, working well, and they are much easier to replace than studs, if needed.

Personally I find it a lot easier to put wheels on with bolts, but still did a stud conversion for flexibility with wheel spacer sizing. If I wasn’t running spacers anymore, I would honestly switch back

I actually like that bmw has the stud and bolt in one because if you’ve ever snapped a lug stud getting an over torqued wheel off, you know the fucking pain it is to replace them.Whole knuckle has to come off, tie rods. Terrible engineering on most vehicles, you should appreciate that bmw does this

I don’t know if you will ever see this comment, but do you know why BMW uses lug bolts instead of nuts and lug studs?

I understand why you did it because my coworker who has a heavily modified E46 M3 competition did this Because he wanted to run a specific set of wheels and didn’t want to risk scratching his wheels when taking off the lugs
