Welcome to the CarGuys, and if you’re into lightning-fast hugely expensive automotive wang-wagglers then you can’t have failed to know that both McLaren and Ferrari have just announced brand new Hypercars.

The McLaren W1 comes out fighting with 1258 bhp - comprising of 916bhp of twin turbo V8 power, and 342bhp of hybrid electrical power through an 8 speed gearbox and rear wheel drive only.

The Ferrari F80 is a dramatic, purposeful, ruthless looking thing, with 1200 bhp, a 0-60 time of 2.15 seconds and a 218 mph top speed.

Both of these hypercar leviathans are expensive, rare, and so fast they will rip your eager eyeballs from their sockets!

And this week on TheCarGuys, we are going to dissect them, give you our honest unfiltered raw opinions, and perhaps more importantly, reveal if we are getting both or either of them for TheCarGuys garage.

The McLaren honestly looks better and is cheaper! That new Ferrari looks really meh compared to their previous big 5. It’s making the Enzo (which unbelievably I didn’t like when it first came out) look even more amazing today. The F40 is still the daddy however!

I don't get the cold shoulder the W1 has been getting. I'm no McLaren disciple and I even think it's beautiful. The F80 on the other hand is a mess.

Honestly, I prefer the W1’s looks over the F80, then again, I can hardly afford a new tyre.

I don't like either design and I'm very disappointed that there's no V12 in the Ferrari and no V10 from the Solus GT in the W1.
The price is just embarrassing. But they need to make as much money as possible now before the next version goes all-electric. I bet this nonsense of having a toxic relationship with brands will end and EVs will be hard to sell unless they are EXTREMELY rare.

Oh dear, what a sad way to celebrate 80 years, not a good looking car, and have you heard (or rather not heard) the dull engine sound of the car on some of the you tube on track videos😢 The SP3 and Speciale are the only contemporary Ferraris I’d want. Could the F80 be the first Hypercar Ferrari that depreciates?

When the F40 was first released it was £193, 000 even taking into account theft (inflation) thats just £680, 000 so how does Ferrari justify the price tag of £3 million ? this is obviously an indication that Ferrari has become incredibly greedy and the gap between rich and poor has grown to unacceptable levels, I'm just glad this thing is ugly as sin and I don't lust after it

The F80 looks more like a spaceship than a hypercar and I absolutely love that radical look. What an amazing machine. It will have so much presence and cool factor on the road. Ferrari showing mclaren how it's done once again.

With the last trinity I could sit hours there pondering which car I’d take if I could’ve gotten one. Here? I’d walk straight into that Mclaren without a hesitation.

F80 tries to be something different or ”brutal” but only gets halfway there and ends up what most people are repeating.. a 3mil lego car. They took the V6 but left the nice curves and lines to the 499p.
