Psychophysiology's New Reality: Medical Paradigm Shift in a Covid-19 World Webinar
Показать описание
When we talk about clinical practice in a world with Covid-19, maybe the first image that comes to mind is of remote sessions, separations of at least 4 feet between people, use of PPE, implementation of physical barriers and sanitation of spaces, materials and equipment almost in a compulsive way. But this is only a tiny part of what will involve at least for a long time. The reality is that this health crisis is forcing a rethinking of the paradigmatic foundations by which we conceive the very concepts on which we base our professional activity, including the ideas of health, disease, normality, functionality, quality of life and clinical process, among many others, and in doing so, it also forces a rethinking of the viability of treatments and interventions, giving priority to those that are based on scientific evidence, of interdisciplinary nature, as minimally invasive as possible, and above all, safe and practical for both the patient and the professional in charge. It is at this point that Applied Psychophysiology is a perfect candidate to be the central piece of the new paradigm of medical and psychological care, or better said of integral health, either in face-to-face consultation, in remote sessions or even with inpatients in hospitals or other kind of clinical facilities.
This webinar aims to discuss and give an overview how applied psychophysiology fits into this new reality, and how it can intervene in both classic and new pathologies in the psychological and medical fields, either as a main therapy or contributing to other interventions of an interdisciplinary nature, and how the technology we use allows us to work in a safe environment for everyone without sacrificing the humanity, clinical quality and therapeutic efficacy required to have the best possible results following the highest ethical scientific standards.
Dr. David Arroyo has more than 15 years of clinical and teaching experience (professor, guest instructor and lecturer) in prestigious institutions both in Mexico and internationally in the hospital, educational, academic, private and government fields in the areas of clinical, medical and health psychology, clinical process in health sciences, psychotherapy, applied psychophysiology and medical bioethics. Founding member of the Mexican Society of Bio and Neurofeedback (SMBN) and served on its board of directors for 8 years. Certified in Biofeedback by the BCIA, instructor/mentor in BCIA approved programs, instructor of the “Learn From the Best” program of the Biofeedback Federation of Europe and professor and researcher at the Universidad del Valle de Mexico where he is in charge of the development of the applied psychophysiology program on a national scale. Founder and head for 10 years of the Clinical, Medical and Health Psychology Service at StarMedica Centro Hospital in Mexico City which was a pioneer in the country in the interdisciplinary functional integration of clinical psychophysiology interventions applied to the comprehensive management of different medical and psychological disorders and rehabilitation of both inpatients and outpatients. In the same institution he was appointed for two consecutive periods as President of the Hospital Committee of Medical Bioethics with representation before the National Commission of Bioethics. Co-founder and CEO of the Mindful Neuroscience Center in Mexico, and alongside with his clinical practice, and in collaboration with national and international specialized societies he directs his efforts towards the professional development of evidence-based Applied Psychophysiology in both Spanish-speaking countries and the rest of the world.
