If I remember correctly you can actually sell him your gold which you can't do with other traders. Which then ups his buying amount, but since it's not meant to be able to sell it doesn't take away any of your gold either. So in only 5 minutes you can have 500, 000. You have to kill him though to get the gold back so make sure you get enough to have you set for the rest of the game

This is okay but definitely many better ways. Soul gems are the way to go. On a fresh start you can easily have 500k gold in 1 hour.
