9800X3D sounds great on paper; but, I'll wait for 3rd party reviews before rethinking my next CPU purchase.

I'm waiting for the Steves to cast their judgement before I decide on the x3d.

Bought a 7800X3d in a bundle from micro center awhile back. Just now getting around to building the PC. Plan was to upgrade to the latest X3D chip but will see how this goes now.

Is November 7th when there announcing the 9800x3d or when the 9800x3d hits the shelves.

Because if it's the latter then why the hell haven't they announced the specs and price yet. It's less then 2 weeks away

All I want is a 9950X3D with two top performing CCDs and not a good one and a gimped one.

I still have an i7 6700K and A GTX 1080 Ti. Awaiting the 9800X3D and 5080 to be released before I upgrade.

8% of 200fps is technically huge, it's like 16fps but the big difference might be the 1% lows, 90fps locked is better than 120 with dips to 60 after all

That 8% performance increase actually seems about right, the only reason they achived it was because the got 5.2ghz on 9800x3d, which is a 3% increase compared to 5.05ghz on 7800x3d, the rest is Zen 5%

I think that what we're seeing here make sense for the 9800x3D. This part imo isn't meant primarily for people who already have the 7800x3D, but rather for new adopters to AM5 and those who already have AM5 but might currently have the 7600/X and are ready to upgrade. The 9800x3d certainly might be of interest for me for my desktop PC, which currently runs a 12600K with DDR4.

I own the Ally X with the Z1 Extreme, but I might skip a few generations before I consider upgrading hopefully the prices of them drop in the future...I got mine for my birthday a fortnight ago. Its a beast of a machine and a emulator beast.

I'm not surprised the 9800x3D is clocking in only 20% at max better than the 7800x3D. That seems to be the normal uplift for AMD gaming CPUs.

Also, I'm surprised by the amount of complaints in this comment section. From die hard Intel trolls coping to people yapping about leaks being inaccurate. I mean, I get that leaks are always inaccurate to some degree but sheesh. The hating in these comment section is ridiculous. 😅

Regarding the new 3D cache, it connects to the main chip through fewer contact points.
While the previous one had 100 points (percent), the current link has about 60 link points. I think Moore's law as soon as possible explained the situation, but he is not allowed to go into details.
Basically, the reason is the manufacturing processes that do not allow such huge contact points at new smaller nanometers. There are other reasons, I hope they dare to come out with a chip for the purpose, and not just remain a test area that is already more than 5 years

I also forgot something interesting. The new cache is thinner and this allows for better temperature control. That's where these differences in synthetic tests come from. Still, same speed but bigger cache. There is no speed reduction here because of "thick thermal insulation" 🙃

question, these performance figures are based on PCI 4.0 GPUS, what about the advantage of 8000mhz+ Ram, PCI 5.0 NVME and next year upcoming PCI 5.0 GPU. Could we see an even more increase in performance since it can actually utilize it all?

I think AMD has delivered a true masterpiece of engineering with the 9000 series X3D chip. The innovation here is that the 3D cache isn't stacked on top of the chiplets anymore, but beneath them, allowing for much higher CPU frequencies, not trailing the non-X3D anymore. The X3D chip are therefore the new go-to chips for general high-performance computing in my opinion.

8% at 100 fps is only 8 fps.. I knew this was gonna happen the 9800x3d would only be around 10% faster in gaming then the 7800x3d. That is why i scooped up a 7800x3d back when it was 350$ instead of waiting for the 9800x3d.

This could be even better for vr tiles

Given how much real estate space there is for the Vcache chip on top, and the very limited number of through connectors available on top, it absolutely has to be much smaller. I suspect that means it's double stacked cache layer on cache layer on chip. What that means to whether we get more or less actual vcache is going to be interesting.

I like the second camera angle treatment. Seen it before, but not in this realm.

What cameras are you using? The video looks great. I got a Sony Alpha A6400 for my upcoming channel, but I'm not so sure it's the right choice. 🤔
