Destruction Derby (PC/DOS) 1995, Psygnosis, Reflections

You probably feel like a crash test dummy when you're playing this game - it's not only a racing game, but you get points for wrecking your enemies! The amount of points you get depends on how you hit them ... e.g. you get more points for getting them do a 360 other than driving into theirs sides at high speed. The game has more to offer: a head to head mode with only two cars or the legendary destruction derby itself - a huge arena, every car starts at the edge of it, and then - have a nice crash and watch those barriers, they'll only slow you down!

Watching this brings me smiles...man I loved this game in the day...intense that last lap...not knowing if you'd make it with such a beat up car...at any moment you could go from 1st to last or didn't finish...it was many many hours of fun😁😁😁😁

I love the wide open fast pace of DD2 but I will always appreciate DD for being a good balance of racing and crashing that didnt force you to hunt for points like DD2 would. Also wish some of these tracks were on DD2, tracks like Liberty City and SCA Ultimate Destruction were too fancy for a racing game where crashing other drivers is the main draw

Crossover was such a brutal map. Getting t-boned by 3 cars in a row is one hell of a way to get wrecked

I didn't know this game existed until I tried it on a friends PC with 3Dfx, so probably 1997 or something.
I spent lots of time just crashing / wrecking enemies.
The games does look a lot better in 3Dfx than this software renderer.

I remember playing the hell out this as a kid. I didn’t know about the 16 car cap this port has over the PSX’s 20 back then. I always thought it was something you had to unlock in the game and I think even the PC boxart showed 20 cars in a screenshot on the back of the box.
