Jane is just a ball of sunshine, she just lights up every scene she's in. My heart broke for her during her speech.

"Playing hide & seek, like Abby and aunt Harper." 🤣🤣

I know that Harper was reluctant to come out to her ultra Conservative parents, which is understandable. But she still threw Abby under the bus throughout, and she's basically rewarded for her toxic behaviour at the end.

Even though this is (understandably) Abby’s breaking point, I think the moment where Harper lies about not being a lesbian is actually where I blame Harper the least. She just got outed, not only to her family but to all her family’s friends as well. Her fear and panic in that moment is so understandable. But so is Abby’s realization that she wants to be with someone who isn’t scared.

Now, Harper inviting her girlfriend to Christmas under false pretenses and generally being a crappy girlfriend throughout the REST of the movie is a different story. But in this moment? No, I can’t blame her for not coming out. I DO blame her for destroying Jane’s beautiful paining though 😢

Kristen really made me a fan with this movie. I’ve never found her particularly likable until this movie. She was amazing in this role

That hurt expression on Abby's face at 2:01 made me regret talking shit about Kristen Stewart's acting before.

I'm the Jane of my family. But I don't have the patience and forgiveness that she has and I cut my family off nearly a decade ago lol. I'd rather be alone than have to deal with people like that. It's too hurtful.

Year 2020 and people still have to feel guilty and deny their true self. It's not just in movies, it's real and it's just so sad.

Hate Sloane for telling Harper secret out in front for everyone on purpose.

Goddammit, Annie's at it again. Such a sociopath.

I still think Abby should have gone with Riley at the end. Harper deflecting that Abby’s her partner might happen again with someone else.
This doesn’t happen in just romantic relationships either. This can happen in family relationships or friendships. One person outing the other when they’re not ready just to deflect the negative attention.

Regardless if they’re in the closet or not, it’s not fun being around someone who ignores you in public but is nice when people aren’t looking. Especially when they have some sort of “leverage” like your sexuality that they can use to pin the attention or the blame on you when they’re getting heat for something.

Personally, I think it would have been interesting if Abby decided not to get back together with Harper.

This is a great movie and I love this scene, but it would've been better if the fight was a bit more intense. They say that each of the girls had to "fight" for their parents affection, which put them in conflict with each other behind the scenes but we see them as 3 besties. I wish they'd showed more tension between each other a bit more in the proceeding scenes of the movie and then it culminated in the fight. I would've loved to hear them go full-on cat fight and be like "fuck you, bitch" "no you're the bitch, bitch!" to each other. It would be humorous but also had more staying power by being deeper than just them fighting over who's secret is worse.

Abby and Sloan were endgame, Harper and her family of psychos are better off alone.
