Vernal Pool Crustaceans: Basic Setup

This video explains the basic setup requirements for many vernal pool crustaceans, such as Triops and fairy shrimp. The species I am working with here is Thamnocephalus platyurus, the beavertail fairy shrimp.

I REALLY wish I had seen this video Before buying just the eggs from that company... The detritus would have helped establish the algaes and mircro-organisms I needed.
I also did not bleach out my setup... did the opposite, and added some tank water later... thinking the filter bacteria would be helpful to keep ammonia levels down... I ended up with rather stringy, possibly toxic algae, not green water. ( I didn't notice if there is a link to this vid at the Fairy Shrimp video)

I was wondering why the website states so much against algae at all. When I assumed that would be another food source for them. I just ordered some myself (Red Tail Fairy Shrimp) and am planning to try them in one of my 2.5 Gallons

In this video I cannot understand the name of powder you are adding initially. Requesting you to respond by writing down that word.
My second doubt is how to collect and process vernal pool species eggs.

I used splashless bleach to clean I tank i want to use for these creatures. Upon further research I learned that splashless bleach contains soap, and is bad for aquariums. The tank has been rinsed thoroughly. But i'm not sure if I should keep my current tank or buy a new one. What do you think?
