Mauritius has been for a very long time considered as a paradise destination for its rich marine environment. The marine topography is very diversified and offers a large range of habitats and areas for species proliferation/reproduction with beautiful coral reefs, and stunning and endless drop-offs. However the lagoon today is in crisis since pollution and extensive fishing have chased away the inhabitants. At the other hand, we have seen many positive changes within the local community. The youth of Mauritius is standing up with great and engineering ideas to preserve the flora and fauna of the Island for sustainable development in respect of the environment. New NGOs are working together with locals to make a possible change and grow this movement so people sees beyond economic aspects and believe more in the social, cultural and environmental potentials of their country.
