This is why Mary was better than Edith. Edith would’ve jumped at the chance to destroy Lavinia. Mary actually has a conscious about these sort of things. She may be bitchy towards others, and, honestly, being a bitch to a younger sibling is one of the few perks of being the eldest daughter, but at at least she never set out to ruin reputations or play the kind of cruel mind games Edith did with the Drewes. Edith even tried to steal the husband, ffs. And the way she kept giving and taking away Marigold was particularly cruel to both the Drewes and Marigold. Not an ounce of consideration or care for them at all.
