This clip is making me rethink BFDI.

Edit: Ok, the wire probably just shocked Pin, so that invalidates my first point. I can live with that. But what about the cloning stuff?

Pin can FEEL when Pencil rips one of the wires in her cyborg extensions. Are they a PART of her?
You can add parts onto an object, and when you do so they seem to become part of that object.

That's weird.

What if someone cybernetically attached a recovery center onto let's say Nickel. Would the recovery center become a PART of Nickel? Would he be able to feel things through the recovery center? This episode suggest so.

But that's not even the craziest part of this episode.

at 5:10 we see that you can make a part of an object become a seperate, sentient being from that object, in this case Book's drawings become sentient. These drawings can move and talk and leave Book (19:57), albeit with help from the water. These drawings are representations of real (in-universe) historians, and they seem to inherit the personalities, experiences and memories of these people (19:58). These drawings have essentially become clones of real objects.

What are the implications of that?

Air-Fryer is presumably still alive ("A modern historian, Air-Fryer spends his time...") doesn't he have the right to not be cloned like this without his consent? What about the drawings of now dead objects? Wouldn't it be disrespectful to clone a dead person? And now that they're alive, do those clones have the right to be their own seperate beings?

I realize the escaped drawings all died to lead poisoning, but what about the others? There's obviously more drawings in Book, and they're still alive. Plus, with the help of water, they can escape Book and run amok on their own. What should be done with them? Should Book even be allowed to call the drawings her own anymore? Wouldn't forcing them to stay inside her pages be akin to slavery?

The last thing I want to touch on is that this episode introduces the idea that objects can give sentience to other objects (or at least the prize wheel, which is a whole other can of worms that isn't relevant here). Who else came about as a result of this? We know Eggy was born from an Egg (see a pre-split BFB episode I can't remember which one specifically), but Eggy is an organic thing. What about Rocky, or Snowball? Was Snowball formed one day then given sentience??

All of this is to say that this episode opens up new possibilities for the concepts of sentience and free will in the world of BFDI that I half jokingly would like to see them explore in the future.
