By the way I've I've seen a lot of these videos on here about BB-8 and there's only three people you are the top of that list that is so impressive and the videos are so detailed and provide so much more information than anybody can ever think that they could get... Thank you so much because I honestly would be very lost on trying to figure this thing out... Right now I have three of them one works and functions I think pretty well The other two have system error on a constant basis and also the heads don't work they don't turn on for too long one of them and the other one just doesn't turn on..

Thanks for sharing ! A great improvement to the head would be to install 3 round ball roller bearings under the head for smooth movement. Good luck.

Thanks For the tear down. Curious to see how people on the builders group start to integrate this.

Mike, have you tried adding better/stronger magnets yet? I know the stock ones are best for balance but my head pops off with any little bump. I’d love to put in a better set. Let me know and thank you. Great videos too!

Can you show us how to replace the head battery? From watching your video it looks like it's hard to reach as it's under the board. My bb8 is new but the head only lasts 7 minutes before it stops.

Do you know what kind of battery replacement I can get for the head? Thanks so much!
Also does it come out fairly easy to switch out?

Well, I have taken the challenge. Disassembling BB8 I found relaxing, oddly enough. This replacement battery is due to arrive today. I have accounted for every screw for every part removed. Pictures included. However, there is one switch, and I have no idea where the heck it came from. It is small switch, rectangular in shape, with red and black wires coming from it located at the bottom left hand side of the bezel. I do not recall removing screws for this switch. There is another sensor that looks just like it and it has yellow wires coming from. I recall removing those screws.

Any idea where this sensor is supposed to go?

Great video! I was thinking about adding some more LED lights into this thing, so is it possible to open this up and put it back together reliably?

Mike, my BB-8 doesnt recognize my voice anymore, maybe due to its head kept falling off thus damaging the microphones. Is there any way to fix this?

Hey mike, great video! I've been contemplating painting my bb8 hero droid, not a complete paint job - just to add more weathering like you see in TFA, ive seen a few tutorials on how to do that with a bb8 model but these haven't had any electrics inside, is it too risky to try this or could I manage it with tape covering parts like the eyes, speakers, microphone, etc.?
Another question I have is that I have seen one such tutorial where weathering has been applied, the paint sealed on and then a 'rubber spray' applied over the top to give it a smooth texture, if this was done to the hero droid would it mess with the magnets? Any advice you could give would be great! Keep up the awesome work!
