Arrano: the next generation of helicopter engines | Safran

Explore the technological breakthroughs brought by the new cutting-edge helicopter engine: Arrano. Designed by Safran Helicopters Engine, its architecture allows a 10% to 15% reduction of fuel consumption compared to previous generations. Arrano is also packed with technologies facilitating maintenance operations such as health monitoring, automatic fault diagnosis and predictive maintenance technology. Arrano is a new generation engine in the 1,100 to 1,300 shp power range, perfectly suited for new four-to-six-tonne helicopters. The engine has been selected by Airbus to power the future H160 helicopter.

After its maiden flight on January 27th 2016, and following a test campaign of 10,000 hours, including 2,000 in flight with the H160, the Arrano received its type certification from EASA (European Aviation Safety Agency) in June 2019.
