Today I show off 5 useful automations for your Philips Hue lighting. I go over how to temporarily disable a Hue motion sensor, activate the Hue sync box with your voice and voice assistant routines, how to create Siri Shortcuts, and how to activate your Philips Hue lights with NFC chips. For any homebridge users, you can also do the first motion sensor toggle with the hue-sensors plugin. This adds a switch to your home app to toggle the sensor on/off. The most useful bit about this is it can be used as part of automations.

I have my down stairs desk setup with Hue lights. My wife likes to creep up and scare me while I have my gaming headset on. To circumvent that I installed a Hue motion censor at the top of my stairs. During the day I have it programed to change to bright white that way in case I'm in a meeting or something my face doesn't light up a strange color. At night I have it programed to change to red. I also set up a routine through Alexa audibly saying "intruder, intruder, intruder!" My wife hasn't been a big fan of this part so I disabled it for the time being lol

*I like the old style Echo Dot because it's small also **Newest.Technology**, gives out decent sound and doesn't take up a lot of shelf space if you want to put it on beam in the workshop or shed.*

Ooh (I'm on a roll now) and I can stick an NFC tag to the phone charger beside the bed so that when I dock it at night it will run the routine for bedtime! Saves me having to tell Alexa to do ti. God, I'm going to end up like one of those passengers in Wall-E

Nice video, Justin. I'll be checking out a lot more of your stuff. I just ordered 8 Philips Hue candle bulbs (white), the latest Hue Bridge and a Philips Tap dial. I'm clear on how to do a standard setup for my 8 bulb chandelier but I'd like to have a routine where the bulbs "rotate" or chase each other. I don't see anything in the off-the-shelf Hue app that would accomplish that. What do I need to add to pull this off?

Do you know how to auto arm and auto disarm a blink camera system based on location? 2 smartphones out of house = arm, as soon as 1 is home = disarm.

Do I need to connect chromcast 4k or firestick straight to sync plilips box so it can sync the lights with my Sony Google tv? Chromcast was working good but now it keeps on disconecting and have to unplug and plug it back in so it can work. I bought another cromcast and it was the same thing so I'm thinking is the sync box🥺

I'm considering getting the SwitchBot NFC tags but have Hue Lights with a Hue Bridge and use the Hue Switch Dimmer with a faceplate over original light switch, can I still use the NFC Tag to control my lights? Or will it only be possible if I have a switchbot Bot

I use a Philips Hue motion sensor in my mailbox so when it is opened a couple lights turn red to let me know the mail has arrived or someone opened the mailbox. I use HomeKit for that.
