The 2025 Cleveland St. Patrick’s Day Parade is happening this afternoon! The parade, which begins at 1:04 p.m., will travel along the following route in downtown Cleveland:

Begins: Superior Avenue at East 18th Street
Southwest on Superior Avenue to West Roadway
Northwest on West Roadway for one block
Northeast on Rockwell Avenue
Ends: Intersection of Rockwell Avenue and Ontario Street

This year’s Grand Marshal is Shannon M. Corcoran.

“As an active member of many Irish Organizations in Cleveland, Shannon has enthusiastically worked to enrich each with her time and talent,” according to her bio listed on the parade’s site. “She began her life of service as a student with the Burke School of Irish Dance where she spent twelve years performing in shows and competitions and helping other students learn this rigorous art form.”

The parade's theme for 2025 is "celebrate the life of St. Brigid."

The City of Cleveland also released the following traffic and safety information:

ROAD CLOSURES
Be mindful of signage indicating road closures as violators will be ticketed and towed at the owner’s expense. Towed vehicles may be retrieved from the City of Cleveland’s Impound Unit at 3040 Quigley Road.

A full map of road closures can be found HERE.

SAFETY
Parade goers who bring small children are reminded to always be mindful of children’s whereabouts. Attendees should remind children to find someone in a uniform if they become separated from parents or caregivers. There will be many uniformed safety personnel on site, as well as members of the Downtown Cleveland Alliance who can keep children safe and help to reunite them with loved ones in the event of a separation incident.

The Child Reunification Center will be located at Terminal Tower: 50 Public Square. Members of the Cleveland Police Community Relations Unit will care for lost children until reunification is established. Members of the Cleveland Division of Fire and Emergency Medical Service will be on hand for medical emergencies.

PARKING RESTRICTIONS
Parking restrictions will go into effect at 9 a.m. and run through 5 p.m. Traffic is expected to be heavy prior to and following the parade. The Division of Police will supplement their customary allotment of traffic officers with additional staff. Officers from both the Division of Police and partnering law enforcement agencies will be detailed to the event for added security.

PARADE HISTORY
The history of the Cleveland St. Patrick's Day Parade dates back nearly two centuries.

"The very first parade that we know about in Cleveland was organized in 1842 by the city’s third resident Catholic priest, Rev. Peter McLaughlin," according to the parade's site. "Fr. McLaughlin was a proponent of temperance, or abstinence from alcohol, and his St. Patrick’s Day celebration began with mass at St. Mary’s on the Flats -- the only Catholic church in Cleveland’s city limits at that time -- continued with a Parade of the Catholic Temperance Society, and concluded with a banquet attended by friends and family members."

Akron already held their 2025 St. Patrick's Day Parade, which happened on Saturday, March 8.
