Brutus, die Band um die singende Schlagzeugerin Stefanie Mannaerts, passt nicht in die klassischen Metal-Schubladen. Ihr Sound oszilliert zwischen Rock, Metal, Hardcore und Pop und ist ein weiteres Beispiel für den enormen Kreativ-Output des Musiklands Belgien.
2013 gründen Schlagzeugerin und Sängerin Stefanie Mannaerts, Gitarrist Stijn Vanhoegarden und Bassist Peter Mulders gemeinsam Brutus. Alle Drei hatten schon eine Menge Banderfahrung in der lebendigen Leuvener Musikszene gesammelt. Nachdem die Band erst einmal Live-Erfahrung bei diversen Festivals wie Pukkelpop oder Rock Herk gesammelt hatte, erschien nach drei EPs 2017 ihr Debütalbum „Burst“.
Bekannte Musiker wie Lars Ulrich (Metallica), Greg Puciato (The Dillinger Escape Plan) und Riley Breckenridge (Thrice) bekannten sich kurz darauf als Fans, was für eine Menge Aufmerksamkeit sorgte. 2019 erschien „Nest“, gefolgt von einer US-Tour, u.a. mit einem Gig beim Festival der Deftones.
Während der Pandemie erschien ein Livealbum, 2022 folgte „Unison Life“. 2023 spielten Brutus u.a. auf Festivals wie dem Roadburn, Rock am Ring, Pinkpop und vielen anderen.

Everything about this is just undescribable... Amazing sound, flawless performance, so sentitive. No autotune, no triggers, no sampling, lots of analog amps and pedals with studio quality but above all amazing music played with deep beautiful souls.
