I'm just starting into MTB and I'm really enjoying all the GMBN videos. Thanks guys.
I'll definitely be practicing the skills shown here.
My favourite part was Chris struggling with the slope at 1:40ish though, I'm glad to see that even happens to guys that are skilled.
There's a trail I ride that has a long, steep, loose, rocky section that's challenging and fun to descend but always has me either spinning the back wheel or popping up the front on the climb. I've never made it up without getting off the bike, and I haven't seen anyone else make it either.
It's a goal.

Doh! I watched 2 guys in GMBN Shirts and a camera recording this on the bench etc a couple of weeks ago, I stood around and watched from afar while I waited for a friend to arrive - for some reason i didn't think it was Blake/Chris or I'd of fanboyed - on that note, if the GMBN Store sold a black/gold coloured mudguard to match my colour scheme.. that would be a good item to try getting signed if I ever bump into them again, it's either that or my underwear.

How could anyone be rude enough to click on the 'not like' for this video? This is an excellent video, you guys really put your heart and passion into it. I thought it was great, thank you!

I really appreciated that you uploaded the multiple failures on the uphill climb. It helped me to understand that I am not alone with the occasional difficulty with what seems like a simple climb. A brief explanation of how to prevent that wash out (lower tire pressure/ lean less forward to increase weight on that back wheel) would have been a nice addition. I just started this 6 months ago. I am 52 and hooked. I am soaking up this knowledge like a sponge. These videos are awesome. Thank you so much. Keep up the great work. (Nashville, TN USA)

That front hook is the only way to get up the hard line of a technical climb I know well. This is important because the easy line is usually blocked by riders that have stopped in their attempt to make it up. It's basically a muddy section with big boulders creating steps and a narrow line up one side that can be pedalled but only if you're accurate, most aren't. Usually the stuck rider starts apologising as you approach because they're blocking the only possible line, then they work out that you're heading to an impassable boulder and they generate a smug smirk as they anticipate your failure. This is swiftly followed by laughter... from their three mates when you lunge your back wheel over the step and make the stranded rider look very silly in their eyes. Thanks for giving me a way to reference the technique without fully explaining it, it was just something I did until now.

All these skills are practical and useful!
I was wondering how others get through the tight switchbacks, now I know how!

Learning track stands and decent pedal ups made a big difference in my riding. However, I think the lowest hanging fruit to pluck from the trials tree is developing some comfort riding off-foot forward. Can be practiced on any bike on any terrain including your daily commute :)
