"PJ" is just short for "Pete Junior"

In the show, Peg and Goofy were both cheerleaders for their college/highschool team. Which is why she's so familiar and friendly to goofy.

Every once in a while, Pete would actually give Goofy some good advice about considering his own well being over others. Goofy being a bit too selfless and Pete being a little too selfish.

Another YouTuber once speculated that the writers probably intended for her to originally be Goofy’s wife and Max’s mom, but at some point, they realized the dynamic with her and Pete was way funnier.

Apparently the "Pixar mom" thing is because its a visual medium so they want to play up the characteristics of a woman to make it clear but being busty is seen as too sexual for kids media so they get giant hips
