Abstract
In this talk we will have a look at what happened in the observability space in the past ten years. We will look at how open source and open standards helped establish observability. By reviewing CNCF projects such as Prometheus, OpenTelemetry, and Fluent Bit we discuss the state of the art from a technological viewpoint but also use cases and strategies around open source o11y tooling. We aim to address the questions of how to get actionable insights in the context of portability and return of investment and what the future might bring in this domain.
