Very well chosen topic! I predict that this video is gonna become very big, because many people, politically motivated or not, are wondering about this term they hear all the time. Kudos!

the split in Islam isnt Theological its schism in Politics. How to appoint a Ruler for the Ummah(Muslim Community).

Sunnis believe that Population picks its Regional Rulers who pick its Caliph
VS
Shiites believe that Caliphate position is RESTRICTED to the Democratic election from Regional Rulers to pick Family Members of Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) ONLY!!!

Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) never restricted position to a particular Social Class. He recommended that Council of Leaders Elect # of population nominees. Examples- The Community picked # of individuals who fit for the Job. Council of Regional Rulers would interview and pick by Unanimous or Majority vote who to Rule the Whole Society. Im sort of oversimplifying it but yeah something like this?

A caliphate could happen of sorts, but it would have to be a diplomatic endeavor rather than a militaristic one given that the eyes of the entire world is on the middle east and not just a bunch of dudes with sabres on horseback.

The most likely event of this would be the unification between Arabic states, but given that most of them have monarchies or otherwise authoritarian rulers of their own this is not likely either. When Syria and Egypt tried it failed, I would also assume that Israel would have to be removed entirely for it to ever work too. Regardless of what you feel about them, they are a disrupting element to any romantic thoughts of a united Arabia.

Hi, I recently discovered your channel & found it interesting. I have subscribed. I felt the music was loud in this video & was not able to fully comprehend what you were saying. Also, I feel that it would be awesome if you add English subtitles to your videos so that those who have some difficulty in grasping your accent will understand everything. Thanks.

as a muslim in egypt history is often very biased to match the state's semi-secular totalitarian agenda, as for the 4 rightly caliphs era, we take about conquests and that they are assasinated and the fitnas, but we dont take the other achievements, why the fitna (conflict) happened and why and when it was solved, and curriclum acts as if it was since then forever, this is to justify the nation state and to portray a picture that any involvement of people in politics would cause a division of power and civil wars, while the fitna was actually much more complex.
then also they know pople are quite revolutionary so they spill out our emotions in the revolutions that happened against french and brits and marginalise 25 jan revolt.
also learly they dont know what they are doing because they eant to portray islam as backwards and make stuff p but same time to win religous population they portray islam or "moderate" islam in their word as a pro-authoritrianism version and that opposition in islam is prohibited, while they acknowledge the shura (consultance) principle for picking ruler at same time, basicly social studies class is just a propaganda piece that isn't even know what it's trying to do. is it secular? is it "islamist"? who knows, it's neither, it's just pro-state

3:08 ish
Yeah, I don’t think Muslims are going to favor their “nation state”over the “leader” and new representative of Islamic rule.

That seems pretty naive a statement.

But I’m still learning. Happy to be proven wrong.

2:26 the red part is not only Spain, Portugal was part of the caliphate as well. Other than that, great video.

It's an interesting video.
I would like to add though that Muslims do not study a "perfect" view of the Caliphate, we know that 3 out of the first 4 caliphs were assassinated.

However, with a little more detail, you'd know they were very just, righteous, pious, and humble. Which is why Muslims appreciate that time.
