Captain Gordon is the only Astronaut I've ever met. A man of remarkable accomplishment! RIP, Captain Gordon.

And now. Dick Gordon. Pete Conrad and Al Bean (Apollo-12) are now together again. RIP Capt. Gordon.

He wasn't one of the most celebrated of the Apollo astronauts but he was one of the most laid-back of them (but of course, Pete Conrad holds the distinction). One by one we are losing the men who actually flew in space outside Earth orbit and went to another world, almost 400.000 km away (I'm Brazilian, so I put in kilometers) and they also had the extreme privelege of seeing Earth with their own eyes. These men are true heroes and a source of inspiration and yet, most people don't even care. It's a sad situation, when the world population is concerned with the price of gas and stupid nationalism (between other frivolous things) when we should look to the future to make a better planet for us and our descendants. So that's why the United States can never lose its preeminent position in space, to develop a more robust space program and lead mankind into the stars. R.I.P. Richard "Dick" Gordon (1929-2017). Member of the most select group in history: the 24 men who went to the Moon.
