It’s a special feeling when you see your patient go from very poor vision with a huge impact to their daily lives back up to functional
vision following eye surgery. It’s one of the big appeals of a career in ophthalmology as often the results of surgery make a huge and impactful difference given sight is one of our most if not the most important of senses. We see this huge shift sometimes when patients have very dense cataracts sometimes reducing the vision to light perception only; then seeing this restored following surgery and the happiness and joy that follows is truly rewarding.
