Holy shit, when you said you are telling a story about the root notes it put soloing as a beginner in a whole new perspective, thankyou!

💡I've been playing for just over a year now and my guitar journey seems like a video game where the objective is to collect keys in order to move forward... this was definitely one of those key collecting moments. Thanks, Michael. 🗝

You can give a man a fish... feed him for a day.
Give him a fishing rod... feed him for life!
Thanks for sharing.

This video is extremely underrated. Might be the best video I’ve seen on how to solo effectively

Love the way you explain this. I've had teachers try and show me improv since I was 14 learning piano blues but no ones made it sound this approachable. So often teachers get lost in the theory to the point where you can't even see the music and you've done completely the opposite

One of those a-ha moments when someone finally explains something in a way I get. Thank you. Now if I can just make it work. I hope so!

Thanks for the lesson, you made some key points here about those root notes. Improvising is what aspiring players want to learn as it is rewarding as well as impressive to others. One thing I figured out is to learn a few mini licks then tie them together. And a lot of these can be made from simple walk ups/downs, with some small 2-3 note fillers in between. Otherwise listen to players you like and learn a few of their riffs and apply them to your playing. Play/learn them and build your lick library in your head. After a while new ones will come naturally when you are playing!

This video was uploaded 6 years ago and I found it now and it’s very helpful in 2020. I’m sure that even after decades and decades this will video lesson will be very helpful as it is today for guitar learners and players. Music never dies, good lessons like this can never be ignored.

This is exactly what i was looking for. You actually explain the scales, and you do it well. Great video! and keep up the great work.

I couldn't understand improvising and then I watched this video. Started seeing the music as a conversation, telling a story through phrases, and now I can improvise something that sounds good! Thank you so much
