Another way of cheap etching is to cover all the metal you dont want darkened (or vise versa) place in vinegar for about a day (longer if its stainless, works better on carbon steel)

I know I am tad bit late here but timezones, love the content but in case that somebody does stuff with stencils I highly recommend transfer tape. You can get it rolls and it allows you to have the floaty bits (the top part of an A for example) in the correct spot not always needed but can help with letters and more elaborate stuff. English is a rough language
