Pericyclic Reactions Part 1: Revisiting the Diels-Alder Reaction

An important class of reactions is the pericyclic reactions. We've been introduced to one subclass of these, cycloaddition reactions, when we looked at the Diels-Alder reaction. For the next few tutorials we will learn about some other important pericyclic reactions, but let's start by refreshing out memory with that first classic reaction.

Thank you for the great explanations! At the bottom left of the slide at 4:13, wouldn’t the 0-node MO of dienophile be in a higher energy than the 0-node MO of the diene (assuming upwards direction <-> increasing energy), since the 0-node MO of diene is stabilized by delocalization?

Hey Dave.
I know u did a video on scientific method called "Why you should never say 'its just a theory'", but could you perhaps do a video on inductive method vs deductive method?
I find it hard, at times, to differentiate between the two, aswell as explain why i chose one over the other when writing papers.
Thanks for the content!

Please leave the bottom 15% of your slides blank, as this section is being obscured by the subtitles.
