This new format is so weird. Also, teams dont even have a chance to go to the Europa League, its either youre through to the next round/playoffs or your out.

Easy mode for Arsenal. Looked a tougher one for Liverpool, probably the toughest draw. Villa will take that considering it could’ve been way tougher, and Man City’s is fairly straightforward

As a liverpool fan this has increased the jeaopardy factor alot and its alot more on the edge then the old group stage format. Only 8 of those 36 qualify automatically for the last 16. 9-24 could be alot of good teams stiĺl in that and alot of good sides still wont make the last 16

How the League Stage Works

Matches: Each team will play 8 matches against 8 different opponents (4 home, 4 away). This replaces the previous 6 matches (3 home, 3 away) against the same 3 opponents.
Opponents: The 36 teams will be divided into 4 seeding pots based on their UEFA club coefficients. Each team will play:
2 opponents from Pot 1 (1 home, 1 away)
2 opponents from Pot 2 (1 home, 1 away)
2 opponents from Pot 3 (1 home, 1 away)
2 opponents from Pot 4 (1 home, 1 away)
Draw: A hybrid draw system is used:
A team is manually drawn from a pot.
Software randomly selects 8 opponents, ensuring no team faces another from their own association and a maximum of 2 from any other association.
The software also randomly determines which matches are home and away.
Progression to the Knockout Stage

Top 8: The top 8 teams in the league automatically qualify for the Round of 16.
Play-offs: Teams ranked 9th to 24th enter a two-legged play-off round to determine the remaining 8 spots in the Round of 16.
Eliminated: The bottom 12 teams are eliminated from the competition.
Other Notable Changes

More Matches: The total number of matches increases from 125 to 189.
Longer League Stage: The league stage will now conclude in January instead of December.
Match Days: Matches will be played on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays.
Benefits of the New Format

More Competitive Matches: Teams will face a wider variety of opponents, leading to more unpredictable and exciting matches.
Increased Revenue: More matches mean increased broadcasting and commercial revenue for UEFA and participating clubs.
Greater Access for Smaller Clubs: Four additional teams now have the opportunity to compete in the Champions League.
Overall, the new Champions League format aims to create a more dynamic and engaging competition while generating more revenue and providing opportunities for a wider range of clubs.
