Exceptional 1820s mahogany French Antique Armchairs: Restoration Period Furniture.

Показать описание
An eccentric and high quality example of fine domestic mahogany salon furniture from the 1820s. These pieces are what remain from a much larger set that has since been divided. Chairs like these are more or less collectible in function of the quality of the mahogany used, the completeness of design and decor, and quality of the execution.

The squared backs adorned with opposing consoles at the top is a rare and attractive design we encounter on fine seating during the first third of the 19th century. The curved front feet are “frogs thigh” shaped, typical of the French restoration period (~1815-1830). Finally, pieces like this show how fine and intriguing period pieces from the first portion of the 19th century belong to the pre industrial (sometimes considered exclusively 18th century) timeline of furniture as art.

The tapestry with the napoleon bees is actually rather lovely. Especially since the tapestry was originally made by a lady for the chairs in her chateau. And again the carving is so beautifully sharp, redolent of the very early 19th C. Love your videos!

J'adore the bee tapestry and especially the family information on how they were made at the Chateau! cannot Imagine being the family wanting to sell them. So glad the new owner wants to keep this lovely needlework. I have a thing for the Royal Bee, I would have loved to buy the tapestry if they were redoing the upholstery!
