I may be one of the very few living people in 2021 who saw in person BOTH the author of the song, Kui Lee and Elvis sing this marvelous song in person. Kui had throat cancer and died at 32, so that might have been in 1966 or so, and with Elvis it was the sold out dress rehearsal for the famous world concert from the Blaisdell Center in Honolulu. When Elvis died, there was a tribute to him, of course there in Honolulu, and near the end, the DJ asked what song to end the program with. I called in and said without doubt it had to be this song. And so it was.

40 years ago, in Cornwall, I met the girl who was to be my first, and only true love. At the end of the holiday, this was played at the campsite disco, and I sang along to her. We've both lived our lives, had our "loves" etc. And now, 40 years later, the song has predicted our life, "To your arms someday, I'll return to stay". Once lockdown ends, we will be getting married. This song was so prophetic in my love life.
