The 2021 Toyota LandCruiser 300 Series is the most hotly anticipated new model to arrive in Australia this year.

The internet has just about melted as new details and images of the first all-new LandCruiser in 14 years have leaked out or been released. And now we can give you a first taste of what it’s like to drive.

We got behind the wheel of a production-indicative prototype at Toyota’s Anglesea test facility to sample the new turbo-diesel V6, 10-speed auto and upgraded chassis.

We drove it on bitumen and gravel, put it through an off-road torture test and even did some towing.

It's a shame they got rid of an iconic LandCruiser design feature, the split fold down tailgate. I use the tailgate on my LC all the time, from bench seating all the way to a step to access my platform roof rack, plus everything in between.
