QUESTIONS: 1) What is the purpose of the D-ring below the laces? 2) What is the purpose of the elastic strap across the tongue? 3) Biggest mystery: WHY is the triangular fabric patch on the heel just above the outsole velcro'd into place, rather than permanently stiched or glued?

Would these shoes work whilst sockless? For hikes that crosses rivers and cause the shoes to get wet? Do these shoes dry off fast when wet and as the hike goes on?

I'm a big guy -350 lbs working my way down and these shoes hit. I went on a 2 and a half hour hike today and they stable and comfy.

I highly recommend if you're a plus sized dude trying to lose weight on hiking trails.
