Why waste so much money to only have one release every 4 months. then when a song goes viral ur fans only have 3 songs to go back and listen to. The way I look at it is like this as a artist you should have a home studio but at the same time it’s good to book sessions at other studios for references on mixes and to network. You can’t make a hit by yourself you need that engineer to be your second ear and if you got the right one you can make great music. Making music in your house and not going to other places can hold you back in so many ways .a lot of people are too comfortable to a point when they go record somewhere else they choke because the artist are so comfortable they can’t grow out of it. What you going to do when you blow up and have to record at other studios work with other producers/engineers? Your gonna take them to your crib studio 😂?

When he said so you have to cut back, I instantly thought about that time when Nip had said on his interview with BigBoy's Neighborhood that making music was taking a step back. When compared to the point Russ is making it's all relative because the goal is to own the means of operation and whoever is trying to do this has to literally take a step back and re evaluate what you're really trying to do! If music is it... like honestly... then all your money, or leftover money should be invested into doing this shit! Seriously. It's the best feeling ever and you will not thank yourself enough.

When I learned that artist were paying a grip for studio time and then learned that Dr Dre and Tpain didn't have to because they had studios in their own home, it became clear that home studios were an absolute must. And looking back, this was always a no brainer.

I set up shop in my house years ago well surpassed the 10k hours & it shows in my music. Now I benefit from it but most people will not pay the price for studio time or pay to produce their record some do & thats where I make my money.

You dont even need 4 figures. Just get a dynamic mic(great for untreated spaces), an interface, a daw, some speakers or headphones, a keyboard controller, and some vst instruments. S&$) is under 1k.

Have a mic, daw, headphones, abelton live lite. Troubles with latency need to learn a bit more about production but I’m very inspired and music is my desire. I’ll get it figured. 💚☯️
