That's a 6% improvement for Model Y's new battery. That's great Sam. But not as great as you're making it out to be. You need to be completely fair with your evaluations. I'm a "just retired" environmental scientist. I switched to EV's 11 years ago. I currently own a 2021 Model Y DM LR. I should be receiving my Cybertruck within a few months. Thanks for what you do Sam. I appreciate you. Peace, Calvin.

The Electric Viking is a great analyst because he presents all sides of the topic and the information he’s provided so far illustrates yet another layer of success transitioning from petroleum to electric for our car energy thank you Viking!

I'm from Germany and I drive the Model Y BYD RWD 2024 model. We decided not to wait for the juniper model and leased the current model. I made sure to get the BYD version. I can tell you I don't regret it at all. It keeps it's 175 kwh peak up for so long you have effectively a 600Volt architecture car. We make stops due to our 8 months daughter and our bladders. The car charges faster than you can finish your toilet job on road trips. You are literally sitting on the toilet and the car sends a notification through the app stating that you can continue your trip. I'm looking forward to the higher density LFPs but honestly till my daughter needs diaper changes and a stroller I don't need faster charging nor a higher energy density. I hope that the juniper model with come out with a stalk option. Stalk-less in European traffic with countless roundabouts would be a disaster...

Folks, if you live in the US where leasing is an option, never buy an EV—lease it instead. I leased my Model Y in December 2023 for $500 per month, with 15, 000 miles per year for 3 years. At the end of the lease, just turn in your vehicle and lease a new one. I know someone who paid $55, 000 for a Model 3 two and a half years ago, only to see its value drop to $21, 000 today. Leasing makes sense, especially with new battery technology improving every year. You don’t want to be stuck with an outdated battery.

I think he’s right, soon the ev prices will be clearly below the equivalent ice vehicle even without incentives then it’s game over for ice vehicles.

Good news for those who use Model Y as taxi/Uber

I'm wondering if we will be able to get retrofits of current batteries to replace our EV batteries when they wear out?

Or they pit less batteries, less weight, same range

Didn't you say the same thing about the Highland Model 3?

All Model Y's currently sold in the US have NMC batteries. I just bought one - Model Y LR RWD. There used to be a standard range version with LFP. Are you saying all Juniper Y's in the US will switch to LFP?

HughAllen-fc

Yeah but car companies are desperate to make the cars cheaper. So they'll just put in a smaller battery and keep the same range probably

This is exciting news Sam. The EV-lution of the car industry is underway

The thing I really like about you Sammy is that you are so positive about Eevee's. Good on you young man. If Elon can keep his mouth shut for a few months I might buy the new model y

The higher charging speed/power is unrelated to the architecture voltage (400/800V). Now it makes more sense for higher power levels to use higher voltages to reduce the charging cable size, but there is nothing preventing a 400V pack from being designed to handle 500 kW, if such a charger was made for 400V. In the USA, I'm not aware of any chargers capable of beyond 350 kW other than chargers for the Tesla Semi (and perhaps a few other prototype chargers). I'm sure this will change as vehicles that support faster charging appear in the market.
