I wonder why the last episode to the Third Season of (COLONY) ended with a cliffhanger ending to it, instead of it having a proper ending to it?

I strongly feel that a Fourth Season of (COLONY) deserves to be made, and that a proper ending to the storyline of the show series should be made.
