I've watched English Football for 60 years and in that time there was one free kick taker whom David Beckham could only have marvelled at. His name is Kevin Sheedy and when he was on the pitch, if you gave away a free kick anywhere near goal, you were screwed. The best example I can remember was an Ipswich vs Everton game where Sheedy takes a free kick and scores with ease. The ref orders a retake and he calmly puts the ball in the other side of the goal. He had an absolute wand of a left foot.
