The song was written by Chris Stapleton in honor of Chris's father who passed away.  Luke could definitely relate to the song and recorded the song in honor of his siblings.

Lol Luke did not write this song. Get your facts straight, seriously. Chris wrote it and he’s written many other songs like your man by Josh Turner, for example. Best song writer in Nashville for the last 15 years.
