Y/N and Peter had a very close childhood together and Y/N had to stay at Aunt Mays with Peter because she was raised in a very bad orphanage and so Y/N had saved a couple of people and ran away with them and found a place for them to stay. Then Spiderman (Peter) saved them and invited them to his house ( Well just pretend he has an attic or smth lol) but most of the kids were older than Y/N so they left when they were 18 and tried to get a grip on life, while May wouldn't let Y/N leave because she had grown feeling for them
(In a type of child way lol) so Peter and Y/N had a very close friendship and practically grew up together. Y/N started growing feelings for him but they didn't know it at the time because they had never felt it. So Y/N got a job and got in Peter's school. They had sat at lunch, they were ALWAYS partners for projects, (because the teachers always shipped them) and were practically inseparable. A couple months before Peter was going to introduce Y/N to Mr. Stark him and MJ broke up and even though Y/N felt a bit happy she was there for him through it all. Peter started realizing Y/N was all he needed. But he could never admit it. He felt like he'd be betraying MJ. Then Peter wanted to introduce Y/N to Mr. Stark. When Tony asked Peter who they were Peter hesitated for a second because he was going to say girlfriend/boyfriend but caught himself before that happened.
