One month ago, I transplanted my melons out to the raised beds. I'm growing them vertical on strings so I planted them in high density. In the 3 ft X 16 ft beds, I planted a total of 30 melons of 15 different varieties.

Given the high density planting, I was concerned about the plants staying hydrated. So, I installed two medium size GrowOyas to help keep them hydrated. Good thing I did because we've only two days of rain in the past 28 days!

Once filled with water, the GrowOyas slowly release water as the nearby plant roots require moisture. The closed reservoir conserves water by preventing evaporative loss. All the watering occurs under the soil surface which helps to keep plants hydrated over a longer period of time.

Thanks to the GrowOyas, the melon plants have grown leaps and bounds over the past month despite the dry spell. I look forward to sharing my harvests in a few weeks!
