ADHD is one of the most commonly diagnosed-and widely misunderstood-neurological conditions in the world today, affecting nearly 10% of kids and a rising number of adults. But what if having an ADHD brain is actually an asset? A growing number of innovators, entrepreneurs, CEO’s,
Olympic athletes, and award-winning artists have recently disclosed that their ADHD, managed effectively, has played a vital role in their success. The Disruptors takes an immersive look inside our country’s approach to ADHD, debunking the most harmful myths and reframing our perspective on this diagnosis.

It looks like it only focusses on the Hyperactive Type... As a woman/girl with Inattentive Type, I was the quiet wallflower, daydreamer. I'm hoping to see my experience reflected in the film when I do watch it.

I have chills. This is beyond necessary! This is me, this is my daughter and this is my son. The perspective shift even from the promo is amazing.

Well done Nancy and everyone involved. As a woman with ADHD, a mother of 2 (now) adult kids with ADHD, and an ADHD Coach who works with kids and adults, I can wholeheartedly say this documentary is much needed. While not everyone's life experiences and opportunities are the same, if parents and those who play any role in raising and educating kids with ADHD could understand many of the things presented in this film, it will help so many kids (& adults!) with it. The strengths based approach that Ned Hallowell talks about was a game changer for me when I was diagnosed. Approaching it this way with the help of an ADHD Coach helped me not only build skills around lagging executive functions, but also overcome much of the shame we feel with ADHD.

The documentary opened my eyes to the problems my daughter struggles with. Wish I had seen it decades ago. It would have helped immensely. Kudos to everyone involved in making this wonderful film.

Every parent and caregiver to anyone with ADHD, as well as every educator should watch this film to gain a better understanding of the ADHD mind. I found the information on focusing on the ADHD person’s strengths inspiring. The message to take a step back to focus on nurturing the child, as well as your relationship with them, as opposed to trying to change them is very helpful.

I wasn't prepared for how hard it would be to watch this. As an individual with ADHD and as a parent of three with ADHD. I often struggle with being asked to give my kids what I myself cannot manage, to guide them through a challenge that I have yet to master myself (and I am an successful middle-aged adult). I recommend this documentary to anyone affected by and with ADHD.

I hope that this documentary becomes series on TV. I’m a mother of 3 diagnosed with ADHD at a later age, my daughter 10 is also diagnosed with ADHD. This is real but unfortunately a lot of people are uneducated about ADHD.

Saw a commercial for this film this past weekend as I was watching some tv. I plan on watching this tonight. I can't wait to see it. I was diagnosed almost 3 years ago at the age of 50. I am getting better at dealing with it. It's an everyday battle with myself and extremely frustrating at times.

We watched this documentary last night as a family. We laughed. We cried. We paused the film a couple of times when there was something important we needed to share. It’s definitely helped us reassure our son that his future is bright. That’s it’s up to him to believe in himself and his abilities. With God all things are possible. ❤

I can't wait to watch it! I work with this population and live it every day. I might even do a watch party. Thanks for sharing!

I love having ADHD, being unmedicated and at the age of 32, everything is easy, I only have a "those" day like once a month. Thoughts are always deep and extremely fast and overlapping. Emotions are sensitive to myself and sometimes surroundings. The world is fascinating, and I've been searching for something since I was maybe 18 (don't know what). Anything needed in life you immediately want to become an expert and perfect that art or craft (lol). Have more hobbies and passions and resilience than anything the day before. Everyday this stuff all increases... adrenaline kicks at work rushes me into a dopamine rush where I get extremely happy and energetic... social etc to which everything again increases and I begin writing weird things down lol all while operating a crane and forklift accident free for 9 years now.... standing out in the room. Yes we do that too and we have a weird ability to talk to ANYONE about ANYTNING so as long we can shorten down our information output to the other person, almost play them for the sake of everyone having a good night. Understanding in various situations other people's shoes, just cannot rest knowing someone else is struggling in sight.. charismatic.. we (or I do anyways) am often happy in most environments and surroundings so I tend to make a little noise and get eyes on me... girls, everywhere just can never keep them so it seems. Transparency, we have a tendency to value truth, freedom and happiness 😊

Gabor Mate is not one of the experts included in here -- it's missing a huge piece. His book Scattered Minds should be essential reading for all newly diagnosed adults and parents of kids with ADHD. It's a brilliant book and his theories are spot on. Hallowell's work is fine, but does not compare, presenting just a sliver of the full picture that Mate paints with Scattered Minds. Very surprised the filmmakers did not even think to include his voice here

How can I watch this? I got my ADHD diagnosis today after 27 years of not having a clue why I was different, but knowing there was something that set me apart

Yeah I didn't get diagnosed till I was in my mid 30s even though I knew I had it from say my early 20s. Quite a lot of people with ADHD know they have it because they read about it and literally everything that's fucked up in their life just clicks together. Unfortunately in the UK being diagnosed as an adult is really, really hard.
It's real shitty being told you're lazy and stupid as a kid for so many years and you just need to apply yourself, when your brain pathologically struggles with applying itself.

In Asia ADHD is hardly ever known we always blame not enough discipline, not enough two parents time or taking care the kids. And our best therapy for it is whoopin.
