Wheat exported from Australia is expected to join a list of goods banned by China, which has already halted imports of barley, sugar, red wine, timber, coal, lobster, copper ore and copper concentrates from the country. Starting from November 6, 2020, the items will be barred from China even if the goods were already paid for and delivered to Chinese ports. Beijing’s latest actions came as tensions between the two nations escalated since April when Canberra pushed for an international inquiry into the origins of the coronavirus.

if it wasnt for China, Australia's economy would have died in 2008. However thanks to strong demand of raw materials from China, especially ores, Australia has become one of the strongest economies in the past 10 years in the west. But guess what, instead of strengthening the tie, Australia has always been standing in the forefront of anti-china business. They have been so enthusiastic sometimes, that Mr Pompeo would be shocked even. And they even said that it was China who begged for imports, and can not live without Australia. Another example after HK, who cannot really figure out what the true driving force of their economy is.

If you were a grocery store owner, you won't scold to your customers everyday, especially to your major customers .
This Australian grocery store may need a new owner .

China has committed to meet the target under the China US trade deal, so all these can be sourced from the US, rather than from Australia who's hostile to China.

China joined the international inquiry proposed by france with hundreds of other countries. For some reasons US refused to join that inquiry. Why?

Give that wheat contract to Americans. Since Aussies want to show their solidarity with US against China, they should have no problem with losing their business to Uncle Sam.

As Mahbubani describes this situation: everybody around the world is harassing the tiger. The tiger is very angry. And then Aus wanted to attack the tiger while it is angry.

Australia China relation has been deteriorating even before last year. Just remember proxy in a war will always be the one that saw the most devastation, trade war or hot war.

Glad Beijing is getting smarter, buy less and less from US vassal states and direct those to fulfill to buy more American (trade deal) or from non-us vassal states.

I think the main driver is China is giving concession to important agricultural products from US, therefore Australian products have become the sacrificial lamb.
