'Revari culture': PM Modi's jab on freebies in elections; Kejriwal asks, 'What's wrong?'

Delhi CM Arvind Kejriwal rebutted Prime Minister Narendra Modi's quip about freebies offered by governments ahead of elections, which he compared to the North Indian winter munchies, 'revari'. "Free water, electricity, healthcare or world-class primary education are not 'revaris' but the responsibility of the state," said Arvind Kejriwal. He claimed that he was being abused and mocked for his policies. He added, "I will tell you what free 'revaris' are. There is a big company. It took loans from many banks and did not repay. Banks went bankrupt. That company paid up to the ruling party and faced no action. This is free revari." Earlier in the day, the Prime Minister, while inaugurating the ₹ 15,000 crore Bundelkhand Expressway in Uttar Pradesh, warned against what he called the 'revari culture' of offering freebies for votes and said this is 'very dangerous.' TN gave free electricity during Jayalalitha's rule. All the politicians and rich people who have more than 10 bungalows made maximum use of it. Now the EB is facing lakhs of crores of loss. They are asking for each connection to be attached to aadhar card but the politicians are against it. You know why?

When did PM say Kejriwal's name?

The RBI has released a paper which clearly states which states in future will lose their development capacity and there is name of Bihar, Punjab, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Kerala and Andhra Pradesh which are at seriously danger level. Besides them Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh and Haryana are also in line.

This includes all political party states from NDA rules to Congress ruled.

Delhi is putting more in operational expenditure rather than capital expenditure. Now everyone will be happy, but future generation will not find assets. We are enjoying on our future generation's money

Giving free doles to the poorest of the poor is fine but why give these free to those who can afford it. I know of a well settled retired CG employee getting free electricity despite them capable of affording to pay for it. The money could be better utilized e. g. For infrastructure.

Except free education, nothing should be free. Making things free reduces the incentive of people to work ( Economics people can understand, what I'm talking)

Sir free education is already guaranteed by the constitution. But you have improved the quality there is no doubt in it. But giving free electricity transport etc is not feasible because u know that already Discoms and transportation are facing thousands of chores of losses. And even u said u will given Rs1000 for women in Punjab. And Punjab has 3 lakh crore of debt. Just be aware what are u making out of it

Delhi can survive his revari policy but Punjab economy will not be able to. We all know nothing can be expected from current Punjab CM. Instead of learning from Srilanka crisis, he is defending it in the name of education. Give education free to all indians nobody is stopping you but giving free electricity and water is stupidity.
