Cosmetic Procedures for Skin of Color

Healthy, radiant skin is the most universally desired human feature regardless of skin tone. Structural and biological differences in melanin-rich skin warrant a more conservative approach to cosmetic and skin rejuvenation procedures. This sometimes requires using different devices from those with fair skin for the best and safest outcomes. Most adverse events from cosmetic procedures in melanin-rich skin occur from overaggressive treatments or unsafe techniques/devices for skin of color. 
RF microneedling is one of my favorite treatments for melanin-rich skin as it helps to improve texture, fine lines/ wrinkles, hyperpigmentation, tightening, and scars.

Hi Dr. Stephens What about people who are prone to keloids. My derm a black derm was very worried about microneedling on my keloid prone skin. I mean she never went deep she used a different needle for my skin but that is still a con to microneedling for keloid prone skin no?

Hey doc, I'm planning to undergo 3 sessions of laser toning at 1064nm for an even skin tone. I tried microneedling with prp and the effects didn't last for a long time. What are your thoughts on laser toning? I have an appointment in 5 days and after a couple of consultations with derms, we've narrowed it down to either laser toning or a cosmelan peel. Can you please help?
