"Passion can turn a blank canvas into a masterpiece"

Passion is what pushes artists is truly the most accurate statement I have ever heard Scott.

I’m reminded of a conversation I had about dance. I enjoy dance (I can’t do it often due to a disability) but I adore the craft, I’ve spent my whole life working and did get a little bit of foundational education, but I’m not great. I had someone who saw me dance at a birthday party lament about their inability and fear of not looking great, and I pointed out “I’d much rather watch someone with two left feet and no rhythm who adores the craft, then a master who hates it. Your passion will express the love and adoration into the work, no amount of skill can replace that”.

Training
You can train to be good and make memories along the way 😊

Drive and ambition are right up there. Two things that you definitely need if you want a career as an artist, and you've got both, Scott.

passion and commitment go hand in hand. both can falter but at least commitment implies steadfastness through adversity.

i like your message!

Glad you're sticking to long form content! Passion is definitely a huge driver in every field. That said, it's very easy to get caught up comparing ourselves to others. When I was in grad school for Physics, I remember a line one of my profs said that stuck with me, "while one person might seem like an unscalable mountain to you, to the person behind you, you're equally as terrifying." The gist of that being, don't get hung up on comparing yourself to other people. That's how I approach everything, including art to this day.

His voice is so soothing, and this really helps me. I'm not even an artist, but I've had a really hard time choosing a career. But I think the one I've chosen is both my talent and passion.

Like I mentioned during the live! That’s why I’m an art teacher. Little kids may not be talented in the arts for the most part, but they make up for that with passion! They enjoy what they make because they made it! It’s their art piece and they will do how they please!

Loved sitting through the live this morning! I don’t get much time in my day to watch, so I was glad to watch your process live for once haha

I think that it’s also important to look up to someone and learn from them. I look up to you and give me so much motivation to make art. I still can’t believe you made that huge centaur painting!! ❤️

you are seriously the reason I keep making art, I have wanted to just give up and throw it all away so many times, but every time I see your channel pop up I just can't
I can't just give up on a dream I have had since I was 6, that's too much
So thanks scott, for keeping my art journey going

I just love your take on art it’s like you took the truth about art motivations and just showed it to the world. I’m honestly in awe of how naturally it comes to you.

I saw the community post about how chewed up you felt on the reception to first long form video. I just wanna say thanks for not calling it quits there! I like having these longer videos to sink my teeth into.

I remember those days where I feel like I wasn't improving or feeling like I wanted to give up on art all together. But, I'm just passionate about art. I remind myself all the time to keep going because I just love making art all together and I can't just give up now. Thank you Scott, for the words that managed to encourage me to keep going and try something new with my art. ^^

as long as you truly love something, it will shine through in your work!

I agree! If I do not have enough passion towards a particular subject in my art, I find that I am always unhappy with the piece, but when I just make the art that I want to and that I am excited about, I love the outcome. So never forget to make art that YOU want to make, instead of the art that other people think you should!

I love when artists focus on the passion of art, because that's what makes so human and beautiful. As someone who is self taught with no artists in the family, it's nice to see others affirm the individual journey everyone has. It also highlights just how far passion takes us when we ride along with it
