Luino is an Italian commune with 14,575 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2019) in the province of Varese, Lombardy region. The largest town on the east bank of Lake Maggiore is famous for its weekly market on Wednesdays, and every Wednesday between 6:00 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. Luino holds a market that is one of the largest in Europe. Depending on the weather and time of year, up to or even a few more than 400 stalls put their goods for sale.
The number of visitors can only be estimated and varies depending on the weather and time of year. But the importance of the weekly market is underlined by the bus tours offered from Switzerland, Germany, Belgium and even from Holland.
The first historical events took place in Luino in antiquity. Founded by the Romans under the name "Luvinum", the city developed in the Middle Ages into the hub of quarrelsome changing rulers. For example, Luino was occupied by the Rusca from Como from 1438 onwards. From the 16th century the city was ruled by the Swiss. This mixture of different cultures gave today's tourist center an independent, liberal attitude that Luino has retained to this day.
A decisive event in the history of the city took place on August 15, 1848. At that time, Luino was considered the scene of the Garibaldi movement, which was directed against Austrians and reached its climax in May 1898 with the uprising of the proletariat for bread.

I had the holiday of a lifetime in Italy, travelling from Sorento to Lake Garda. Saw some amazing places and countryside on our two week road trip. Sadly it was before I owned a drone 😢. Still, good reason to come back and do it again maybe 🤣. Great video Manolito 👍🏻
